I Just Got 6-Pack Abs: 5 Lessons About Becoming a Different Person

It's not about the result. It's about who you become.

Read time: 2 minutes

When I gave up the old version of myself, I became the person I admired.

It was a lifestyle change. It took time. I had a lot of excuses. The whole thing was challenging—mentally.

5 months later, I got a 6-pack. An amazing accomplishment. But the journey was tough.

Here’s what those difficult months taught me about getting a 6-pack:

Lesson 1: Results over consistency

Back then, I used to work out consistently.

Despite never getting results.

The only difference between then and now is that I only listen to people with the desired results.

Lesson 2: Inspire others

For the first few weeks, I only had a person to challenge me to get a 6-pack and a coach.

Since then, I’ve learned a lot about nutrition and how to eat. But can I tell you something? Those two inspirational people pushing me still mean more to me than anything.

I learned early on that’s all you need.

Lesson 3: Become the person YOU admire

When I started, I was so determined to achieve 6-pack abs that I stopped drinking alcohol.

Everyone thought I was crazy. They used to say, “You can have one drink.” But, 5 months later, I had become the person I admired.

Meanwhile, a lot of people around me hadn’t moved at all.

Lesson 4: People trust commitment

I used to be very insecure about leading others

I was ashamed that I didn’t have a badass physique of what I admired as a man. And I didn’t become the best leader I could have been because of it. It took me a long time to realize those insecurities were holding me back.

And no amount of success would fix them for me.

Lesson 5: Only take advice from those who have results

After I learned the process, a lot of people around me said:

You can eat whatever you want and work out harder the next day.

But then I’d watch them struggle to progress in their own lives. For months, they insisted I should be more like them. (A lot of people told me I was “missing out.”)

But a big part of success is going in a different direction.

And remember: if it was easy, everyone would do it.
